CERAMICS
My ceramics work started in December of 2023.
I experimented with different mediums through which I could explore my cultural identity. Working with clay is a very natural process, it is an ancient craft dating back to our early ancestors and still going today.
I started by researching ancient Irish pottery. I was inspired by beautiful examples in the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin.
Through my exploration into my heritage and combining it with the knowledge i was brought up with, I play with new design ideas and using the glazing as a method of expression on the pots.
In Ireland all tales were told orally, it wasn't until monks settled in the land that these oral stories started to written down.
I wanted to take these traditional folkstories and solidify them on the ceramics as a new method for passing down tales.
