Permanent Traces,
Temporary Atmospheres

The project consists of a series of hand-thrown ceramic vessels, each containing a personalised
perfume. Each vessel represents a specific type of location significant to me. The materials that
mark the surface of each vessel correlate to the materials gathered at each site; similarly, the scent
inside is reflective of the materials that mark the surface. Together, the intention is for each vessel
to represent one specific location and attempt to encapsulate its memory through aesthetic and
scent. These vessels operate within a fundamental contradiction. When sealed, they preserve the
scent but prevent its experience. When opened, they release the scent, initiating its gradual
disappearance. Preservation and experience are therefore mutually dependent yet incompatible
conditions. The act of accessing the work ensures its transformation, positioning loss not as an
accidental outcome, but as an inherent component of the piece.
